Rainmeter Silent Install (How-To Guide)

Rainmeter allows you to display customizable skins on your desktop, from hardware usage meters to fully functional audio visualizers. This article will serve as an informative guide and give you a clear understanding of how to perform a silent installation of Rainmeter from the command line using the EXE installer.

How to Install Rainmeter Silently

Rainmeter Silent Install (EXE)

Select 4.4 beta release (revision 3502) or newer as older versions of the 4.x release had the silent install option removed

  1. Navigate to: https://builds.rainmeter.net/
  2. Download & Copy the Rainmeter-X.X-rXXXX-beta.exe to a folder created at (C:\Downloads)
  3. Open an Elevated Command Prompt by Right-Clicking on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator
  4. Navigate to the C:\Downloads folder
  5. Enter the following command: Rainmeter-X.X-rXXXX-beta.exe /S
  6. Press Enter

After a few moments you will find Rainmeter entries in the Start Menu, Installation Directory, and Programs and Features in the Control Panel.

Additional Configurations

Change Rainmeter Default Installation Directory

You can change the default installation directory by using the following command line parameters. In this example, I’m installing Rainmeter to “C:\Rainmeter”. Important! If defined, /D= must be the LAST parameter on the command line.

Rainmeter-X.X-rXXXX-beta.exe /S /D=C:\Rainmeter

Disable Rainmeter Automatic Launch on Startup

By default, the installer will add a shortcut for Rainmeter in the Startup folder of your Windows account. If you do not want Rainmeter to launch automatically on startup you can use the following command line parameter.

Rainmeter-X.X-rXXXX-beta.exe /S /AUTOSTARTUP=0

Disable Restart After Rainmeter Installation

By default, Rainmeter will restart after the installation if it was running when the installation was started. You can override this behavior with the following command line parameter.

Rainmeter-X.X-rXXXX-beta.exe /S /RESTART=0

Install Rainmeter 32-bit Version on Windows 64-bit

Rainmeter-X.X-rXXXX-beta.exe /S /VERSION=32

Change Rainmeter Installer Language

The Rainmeter language default setting is 1033 (English) for new installations. In this example, I’m changing the installer language to 1031 (German).

Rainmeter-X.X-rXXXX-beta.exe /S /LANGUAGE=1031

Install the Rainmeter Portable Version

Rainmeter-4.4-r3506-beta.exe /S /PORTABLE=1 /D=C:\Rainmeter

  1. Open an Elevated Command Prompt by Right-Clicking on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator
  2. Enter one of the following commands:

Rainmeter 32-bit Silent Uninstall (EXE) on 32-bit System

"%ProgramFiles%\Rainmeter\uninst.exe" /S

Rainmeter 32-bit Silent Uninstall (EXE) on 64-bit System

"%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Rainmeter\uninst.exe" /S

Rainmeter 64-bit Silent Uninstall (EXE) on 64-bit System

"%ProgramFiles%\Rainmeter\uninst.exe" /S
