Cisco Webex Install and Uninstall (PowerShell)

This article will serve as an informative guide and give you a clear understanding of how to perform silent or interactive installs and uninstalls of Cisco Webex using the Powershell App Deployment Toolkit. The PowerShell App Deployment Toolkit can be used to replace your WiseScript, VBScript and Batch wrapper scripts with one versatile, re-usable and extensible tool. This tool is an absolute must for Microsoft Endpoint Manager Configuration Manager (MEMCM) / (SCCM) Administrators or anyone who is responsible for packaging and deploying software.

.SYNOPSIS
	This script performs the installation or uninstallation of Cisco Webex.

.DESCRIPTION
	The script is provided as a template to perform an install or uninstall of an application(s).
	The script either performs an "Install" deployment type or an "Uninstall" deployment type.
	The install deployment type is broken down into 3 main sections/phases: Pre-Install, Install, and Post-Install.
	The script dot-sources the AppDeployToolkitMain.ps1 script which contains the logic and functions required to install or uninstall an application.
.PARAMETER DeploymentType
	The type of deployment to perform. Default is: Install.
.PARAMETER DeployMode
	Specifies whether the installation should be run in Interactive, Silent, or NonInteractive mode. Default is: Interactive. Options: Interactive = Shows dialogs, Silent = No dialogs, NonInteractive = Very silent, i.e. no blocking apps. NonInteractive mode is automatically set if it is detected that the process is not user interactive.
.PARAMETER AllowRebootPassThru
	Allows the 3010 return code (requires restart) to be passed back to the parent process (e.g. SCCM) if detected from an installation. If 3010 is passed back to SCCM, a reboot prompt will be triggered.
.PARAMETER TerminalServerMode
	Changes to "user install mode" and back to "user execute mode" for installing/uninstalling applications for Remote Destkop Session Hosts/Citrix servers.
.PARAMETER DisableLogging
	Disables logging to file for the script. Default is: $false.

Create a Transform (MST) File to Customize the Cisco Webex Install

Follow these steps to create a Transform (MST) file and add it to the Files folder. In this example, I want to Install for All Users, Disable Auto Upgrades, and Accept the EULA. Check out the Cisco Webex Silent Install (How-To Guide) for additional configuration options.

  1. Download & Install InstEd or your favorite MSI Editor
  2. Right-Click on the Webex.msi and select InstEd It!
  3. Select Transform-> New Transform
  4. Name the file Webex.mst and Save it to “C:\Downloads\Webex\Files”
  5. Under the Property Table, Change the ALLUSERS Property Value from 2 to 1
  6. Under the Property Table, Change the AUTOUPGRADEENABLED Property Value from 1 to 0
  7. Select CTRL+R to Add a Row to the Property Table
  8. Enter ACCEPT_EULA for the Property:String
  9. Enter TRUE for the Value:String
  10. Click OK
  11. Go to File-> Save-> Click OK
  12. Close InstEd

Ok, all the hard work is done and now you can install or uninstall Cisco Webex using one single PowerShell script. Simply change the DeploymentType parameter to install or uninstall. Logging functionality is built-in automatically and you can view the log files under “C:\Windows\Logs\Software”
