UaExpert Silent Install (How-To Guide)

UaExpert is designed as a general purpose test client supporting OPC UA features like DataAccess, Alarms & Conditions, Historical Access and calling of UA Methods. This article will serve as an informative guide and give you a clear understanding of how to perform a silent installation of UaExpert from the command line using the EXE installer.

How to Install UaExpert Silently

UaExpert Silent Install (EXE)

  1. Navigate to:
  2. Log in required to download UaExpert
  3. Download the to a folder created at (C:\Downloads)
  4. Extract the uaexpert-bin-win32-x86-x.y.z.exe from the zip file to “C:\Downloads”
  5. Open an Elevated Command Prompt by Right-Clicking on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator
  6. Navigate to the C:\Downloads folder
  7. Enter the following command: uaexpert-bin-win32-x86-x.y.z.exe /S
  8. Press Enter

After a few moments you should see the UaExpert Desktop Shortcut appear. You will also find entries in the Start Menu, Installation Directory, and Programs and Features in the Control Panel.

Additional Configurations

Change the UaExpert Default Installation Directory

You can also change the default installation directory by using the following command line parameters. In this example, I’m installing UaExpert to “C:\UnifiedAutomation\UaExpert”

uaexpert-bin-win32-x86-x.y.z.exe /S /D=C:\UnifiedAutomation\UaExpert

Disable UaExpert Automatic Check for Updates

  • Open Notepad or your favorite text editor
  • Add the following lines:
  • Save the file to C:\Downloads and name it: uaexpert.ini
  • Open an Elevated Command Prompt by Right-Clicking on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator
  • Navigate to the C:\Downloads folder
  • Enter the following command:
xcopy /y ".\uaexpert.ini" "%AppData%\unifiedautomation\uaexpert\"
