How to Run the McAfee Consumer Product Removal Tool (MCPR) Silently from the Command Line

Uninstall McAfee Products from the Command Line using the McAfee Consumer Product Removal Tool (MCPR)

Note: The latest version of the McAfee Consumer Product Removal Tool (MCPR) no longer allows the program to run silently based on my testing. I have an older version of the download available below that still works.

  • Navigate to: McAfee Consumer Product Removal Tool (MCPR)
  • Download the to a folder created at (C:\Downloads)
  • Extract the MCPR.exe from the file to “C:\Downloads”
  • Manually launch the MCPR.exe
  • Navigate to “%LocalAppData%\Temp\MCPR” once you see the McAfee Software Removal window
  • Copy the entire “%LocalAppData%\Temp\MCPR” folder to “C:\Downloads\MCPR”
  • Cancel the McAfee Software Removal Wizard
  • Open an Elevated Command Prompt by Right-Clicking on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator
  • Navigate to the “C:\Downloads\MCPR” folder
  • Enter the following command:

After several minutes the McAfee Consumer Product Removal Tool (MCPR) will finish running. Although a reboot is not forced, it is recommended to restart at your earliest convenience to cleanup the remaining files from the system.
