RStudio Silent Install (How-To Guide)


RStudio is an integrated development environment (IDE) for R, a programming language for statistical computing and graphics. How to Install RStudio Silently

  1. Navigate to: https://rstudio.com/products/rstudio/download/#download
  2. Download the RStudio-x.x.xxxx.exe to a folder created at (C:\Downloads)
  3. Navigate to: https://cloud.r-project.org/bin/windows/base/
  4. Download the R-x.y.z-win.exe to a folder created at (C:\Downloads)
  5. Open an Elevated Command Prompt by Right-Clicking on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator
  6. Navigate to the C:\Downloads folder
  7. Enter the following command to install R for Windows (pre-req):
    • R-x.y.z-win.exe /VERYSILENT /NORESTART
  8. Press Enter
  9. Enter the following command to install RStudio:
    • RStudio-x.x.xxxx.exe /S
  10. Press Enter

After a few moments you should see the RStudio shortcut in the Start Menu, Installation Directory, and Programs and Features in the Control Panel.

Change Default Installation Directory

You can also change the default installation directory by using the following command line parameters. In this example, I’m installing RStudio to “C:\RStudio”

RStudio-x.x.xxxx.exe /S /D=C:\RStudio
