Nagstamon Silent Install (How-To Guide)

Nagstamon is a status monitor for the desktop. It connects to multiple Nagios, Icinga, Opsview, Centreon, Op5 Monitor/Ninja, Check_MK Multisite and Thruk monitoring servers. It resides in the systray, as a floating status bar or full screen at the desktop showing a brief summary of critical, warning, unknown, unreachable and down hosts and services. This article will serve as an informative guide and give you a clear understanding of how to perform a silent installation of Nagstamon from the command line using the EXE installer.

How to Install Nagstamon Silently

Nagstamon Silent Install (EXE) on 32-bit Systems

  1. Navigate to: https://github.com/HenriWahl/Nagstamon/releases/latest
  2. Download & Copy the Nagstamon-x.y.z-win32_setup.exe to a folder created at (C:\Downloads)
  3. Open an Elevated Command Prompt by Right-Clicking on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator
  4. Navigate to the C:\Downloads folder
  5. Enter the following command: Nagstamon-x.y.z-win32_setup.exe /VERYSILENT /NORESTART
  6. Press Enter

After a few moments you will find Nagstamon entries in the Start Menu, Installation Directory, and Programs and Features in the Control Panel.

Create a Nagstamon Installation Log File

The Nagstamon installer offers the option to generate a log file during installation to assist with troubleshooting should any problems arise. You can use the following command to create a verbose log file with details about the installation.

Nagstamon 32-bit Silent Install (EXE) with Logging

Nagstamon-x.y.z-win32_setup.exe /VERYSILENT /NORESTART /LOG="%WINDIR%\Temp\Nagstamon32-Install.log"

Nagstamon 64-bit Silent Install (EXE) with Logging

Nagstamon-x.y.z-win64_setup.exe /VERYSILENT /NORESTART /LOG="%WINDIR%\Temp\Nagstamon64-Install.log"

Change the Nagstamon Default Installation Directory

You can also change the default installation directory by using the following command line parameters. In this example, I’m installing Nagstamon to “C:\Nagstamon”

Nagstamon 32-bit (EXE)

Nagstamon-x.y.z-win32_setup.exe /DIR="C:\Nagstamon" /VERYSILENT /NORESTART

Nagstamon 64-bit (EXE)

Nagstamon-x.y.z-win64_setup.exe /DIR="C:\Nagstamon" /VERYSILENT /NORESTART

  1. Open an Elevated Command Prompt by Right-Clicking on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator
  2. Enter the following set of commands:
