Marble Silent Install (How-To Guide)

Marble is a virtual globe application which allows the user to choose among the Earth, the Moon, Venus, Mars and other planets to display as a 3-D model. This article will serve as an informative guide and give you a clear understanding of how to perform a silent installation of Marble from the command line using the EXE installer.

How to Install Marble Silently

Marble 32-bit Silent Install (EXE)

  1. Download the Marble 32-bit Installer
  2. Download the file to a folder created at (C:\Downloads)
  3. Open an Elevated Command Prompt by Right-Clicking on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator
  4. Navigate to the C:\Downloads folder
  5. Enter the following command:
    • Marble-setup_x.x.x_x86.exe /VERYSILENT /NORESTART
  6. Press Enter

After a few moments you should find Marble entries in the Start Menu, Installation Directory, and Programs and Features in the Control Panel.

Create an Installation Log File

The Marble installer offers the option to generate a log file during installation to assist with troubleshooting should any problems arise. You can use the following commands to create a verbose log file with details about the installation.

Marble 64-bit Silent Install (EXE) with Logging

Change Default Installation Directory

You can also change the default installation directory by using the following command line parameters. In this example, I’m installing Marble to “C:\Marble”

Marble 64-bit (EXE)

Include Desktop Shortcut During Install

The Marble installer does NOT create a desktop shortcut by default. If you want the desktop shortcut, then you can run the following command line switches to include it.

  1. Open an Elevated Command Prompt by Right-Clicking on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator
  2. Enter one of the following commands:
