LAV Filters Silent Install (How-To Guide)

LAV Filters are a set of open-source DirectShow filters based on FFmpeg. This article will serve as an informative guide and give you a clear understanding of how to perform a silent installation of LAV Filters from the command line using the EXE installer.

How to Install LAV Filters Silently

LAV Filters Silent Install (EXE)

  1. Navigate to:
  2. Download the LAVFilters-x.y.z-Installer.exe to a folder created at (C:\Downloads)
  3. Open an Elevated Command Prompt by Right-Clicking on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator
  4. Navigate to the C:\Downloads folder
  5. Enter the following command: LAVFilters-x.y.z-Installer.exe /VERYSILENT /NORESTART
  6. Press Enter

After a few moments you should see the LAV Filters shortcuts in the Start Menu, Installation Directory, and Programs and Features in the Control Panel.

Create a LAV Filters Installation Log File

The LAV Filters installer offers the option to generate a log file during installation to assist with troubleshooting should any problems arise. You can use the following commands to create a verbose log file with details about the installation.

Change the LAV Filters Default Installation Directory

You can also change the default installation directory by using the following command line parameters. In this example, I’m installing LAV Filters to “C:\LAV Filters”

LAVFilters-x.y.z-Installer.exe /DIR="C:\LAV Filters" /VERYSILENT /NORESTART
