How to Install IDA Freeware Silently

IDA Freeware Silent Install (EXE)

  1. Navigate to: https://hex-rays.com/ida-free/#download
  2. Download the idafreeXX_windows.exe to a folder created at (C:\Downloads)
  3. Open an Elevated Command Prompt by Right-Clicking on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator
  4. Navigate to the C:\Downloads folder
  5. Enter the following command:
idafreeXX_windows.exe --unattendedmodeui none --mode unattended

After a few moments you should see the IDA Freeware Desktop Shortcut appear. You will also find entries in the Start Menu, Installation Directory, and Programs and Features in the Control Panel.

Additional Configurations

Change the IDA Freeware Default Installation Directory

You can also change the default installation directory by using the following command line parameters. In this example, I’m installing IDA Freeware to “C:\IDA Freeware”

idafreeXX_windows.exe --prefix "C:\IDA Freeware" --unattendedmodeui none --mode unattended

Suppress the IDA License Agreement

  • Open an Elevated Command Prompt by Right-Clicking on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator
  • Enter the following command once for each user:
REG ADD "HKCU\Software\Hex-Rays\IDA" /v "License Freeware version" /t REG_DWORD /d "1" /f

Suppress the IDA User Interface Telemetry Prompt

  • Open an Elevated Command Prompt by Right-Clicking on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator
  • Enter the following command once for each user:
REG ADD "HKCU\Software\Hex-Rays\IDA" /v "TlmConsent" /t REG_DWORD /d "0" /f

Suppress the IDA Quick Start Prompt

  • Open an Elevated Command Prompt by Right-Clicking on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator
  • Enter the following command once for each user:
REG ADD "HKCU\Software\Hex-Rays\IDA" /v "DisplayWelcome" /t REG_DWORD /d "0" /f
