HWg-Config Silent Install (How-To Guide)


The HWg-Config utility assigns IP addresses to all HW group network devices. It searches the network, finds devices, shows their unique MAC address and enables you to setup IP, MASK and GW of network devices. This article will serve as an informative guide and give you a clear understanding of how to perform a silent installation of HWg-Config from the command line using the EXE installer.

How to Install HWg-Config Silently

  1. Navigate to: https://www.hw-group.com/product-version/hwg-config
  2. Download the hwg-config_w-x-y-z.exe to a folder created at (C:\Downloads)
  3. Open an Elevated Command Prompt by Right-Clicking on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator
  4. Navigate to the C:\Downloads folder
  5. Enter the following command:
    • hwg-config_w-x-y-z.exe /VERYSILENT /NORESTART /fwsilent
  6. Press Enter

After a few moments you should see the HWg-Config Desktop Shortcut appear. You will also find entries in the Start Menu, Installation Directory, and Programs and Features in the Control Panel.

Create a HWg-Config Installation Log File

The HWg-Config installer offers the option to generate a log file during installation to assist with troubleshooting should any problems arise. You can use the following command to create a verbose log file with details about the installation.

Change the HWg-Config Default Installation Directory

You can also change the default installation directory by using the following command line parameters. In this example, I’m installing HWg-Config to “C:\HWg-Config”

hwg-config_w-x-y-z.exe /DIR="C:\HWg-Config" /VERYSILENT /NORESTART /fwsilent

  1. Open an Elevated Command Prompt by Right-Clicking on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator
  2. Enter one of the following commands:

HWg-Config Silent Uninstall (EXE) on 64-bit System
