FlashBoot Silent Install (How-To Guide)

FlashBoot allows you to create an installable clone of Windows 7/8.x/10 (including all your apps and data) on the USB thumbdrive/HDD and instantly transfer your entire OS to another computer, even with dissimilar hardware. This article will serve as an informative guide and give you a clear understanding of how to perform a silent installation of FlashBoot from the command line using the EXE installer.

How to Install FlashBoot Silently

FlashBoot Silent Install (EXE)

  1. Download the FlashBoot Installer
  2. Download the file to a folder created at (C:\Downloads)
  3. Open an Elevated Command Prompt by Right-Clicking on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator
  4. Navigate to the C:\Downloads folder
  5. Enter the following command:
    • flashboot-x.x-setup.exe /VERYSILENT /NORESTART
  6. Press Enter

After a few moments you should see the FlashBoot Desktop Shortcut appear. You will also find entries in the Start Menu, Installation Directory, and Programs and Features in the Control Panel.

Create an Installation Log File

The FlashBoot installer offers the option to generate a log file during installation to assist with troubleshooting should any problems arise. You can use the following command to create a verbose log file with details about the installation.

Change Default Installation Directory

You can also change the default installation directory by using the following command line parameters. In this example, I’m installing FlashBoot to “C:\FlashBoot”

flashboot-x.x-setup.exe /DIR="C:\FlashBoot" /VERYSILENT /NORESTART

Exclude Desktop Shortcut During Install

The FlashBoot installer creates a desktop shortcut by default. If you do not want the desktop shortcut, then you can run the following command line switches to exclude it.

How to Uninstall FlashBoot Silently

  1. Open an Elevated Command Prompt by Right-Clicking on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator
  2. Enter one of the following commands:

"%ProgramFiles%\FlashBoot\unins000.exe" /VERYSILENT /NORESTART
