CPU-Z Silent Install (How-To Guide)

CPU-Z is a system profiling and monitoring application that detects the central processing unit, RAM, motherboard chip-set, and other hardware features. How to Install CPU-Z Silently

  1. Navigate to: https://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html#version-history
  2. Select the version of your choice
  3. Download the cpu-z_x.xx-en.exe to a folder created at (C:\Downloads)
  4. Open an Elevated Command Prompt by Right-Clicking on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator
  5. Navigate to the C:\Downloads folder
  6. Enter the following command: cpu-z_x.xx-en.exe /VERYSILENT /NORESTART
  7. Press Enter

After a few moments you should see the CPUID CPU-Z Desktop Shortcut appear. You will also find entries in the Start Menu, Installation Directory, and Programs and Features in the Control Panel.

Create a CPU-Z Installation Log File

The CPU-Z installer offers the option to generate a log file during installation to assist with troubleshooting should any problems arise. You can use the following commands to create a verbose log file with details about the installation.

Change the CPU-Z Default Installation Directory

You can change the default installation directory by using the following command line parameters. In this example, I’m installing CPU-Z to “C:\CPU-Z”

cpu-z_x.xx-en.exe /DIR=C:\CPU-Z /VERYSILENT /NORESTART

Exclude the CPU-Z Desktop Shortcut During Install

The CPU-Z installer creates a desktop shortcut by default. If you don’t want the desktop shortcut, then you can run one the following command line switches to exclude it.
