Autodesk EAGLE Silent Install (How-To Guide)

Autodesk EAGLE is a scriptable electronic design automation application with schematic capture, printed circuit board layout, auto-router and computer-aided manufacturing features. EAGLE stands for Easily Applicable Graphical Layout Editor. This article will serve as an informative guide and give you a clear understanding of how to perform a silent installation of Autodesk EAGLE from the command line using the EXE installer.

How to Install Autodesk EAGLE Silently

Autodesk EAGLE Silent Install (EXE)

  1. Navigate to:
  2. Download the EXE to a folder created at (C:\Downloads)
  3. Navigate to:
  4. Download the Visual C++ 2015-2019 x64 Redistributable to a folder created at (C:\Downloads)
  5. Open an Elevated Command Prompt by Right-Clicking on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator
  6. Navigate to the C:\Downloads folder
  7. Enter the following command: VC_redist.x64.exe /install /quiet /norestart
  8. Press Enter
  9. Enter the following command:
    • Autodesk_EAGLE_x.y.z_English_Win_64bit.exe /DIR="%ProgramFiles%\Autodesk\EAGLE" /VERYSILENT /NORESTART
  10. Press Enter

After a few moments you will find Autodesk EAGLE entries in the Start Menu, Installation Directory, and Programs and Features in the Control Panel.

Create an Installation Log File

The Autodesk EAGLE installer offers the option to generate a log file during installation to assist with troubleshooting should any problems arise. You can use the following command to create a verbose log file with details about the installation.

Change Autodesk EAGLE Installation Directory

You can also change the installation directory by using the following command line parameters. In this example, I’m installing Autodesk EAGLE to “C:\Autodesk\EAGLE”

Autodesk_EAGLE_x.y.z_English_Win_64bit.exe /DIR="C:\Autodesk\EAGLE" /VERYSILENT /NORESTART

Include Desktop Shortcut During Install

The Autodesk EAGLE installer does NOT create a desktop shortcut by default. If you want the desktop shortcut, then you can run the following command line switches to include it.

  1. Open an Elevated Command Prompt by Right-Clicking on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator
  2. Enter the following command:
