Archi Silent Install (How-To Guide)

Archi is a free and open-source visual modeling and design tool for creating ArchiMate models and modeling sketches. This article will serve as an informative guide and give you a clear understanding of how to perform a silent installation of Archi from the command line using the EXE installer.

How to Install Archi Silently

  1. Navigate to: https://www.archimatetool.com/download
  2. Select the Windows 64-bit Installer
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page
  4. Select the Continue To Download link
  5. Download the EXE to a folder created at (C:\Downloads)
  6. Open an Elevated Command Prompt by Right-Clicking on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator
  7. Navigate to the C:\Downloads folder
  8. Enter the following command: Archi-Win64-Setup-x.y.z.exe /VERYSILENT /NORESTART
  9. Press Enter

After a few moments you should see the Archi Desktop Shortcut appear. You will also find entries in the Start Menu, Installation Directory, and Programs and Features in the Control Panel.

Create an Archi Installation Log File

The Archi installer offers the option to generate a log file during installation to assist with troubleshooting should any problems arise. You can use the following command to create a verbose log file with details about the installation.

Change the Archi Default Installation Directory

You can also change the default installation directory by using the following command line parameters. In this example, I’m installing Archi to “C:\Archi”

Exclude the Archi Desktop Shortcut During Install

The Archi installer creates a desktop shortcut by default. If you do not want the desktop shortcut, then you can run the following command line switches to exclude it.
